by madams117 » Sun Apr 10, 2022 9:42 pmI think people started using the 3oz buffer when shooting suppressed. I bought one just in case I need to switch when shooting suppressed with my 11.5 5.56 SBR. I was finally able to take my suppressor home last month, but I haven't had a chance to go to the range yet.
I know it’s outside the scope of the original question but what I first got into AR’s circa 2012, everything 556/223 carbine was shipping with/running a 2.5oz buffer. I recently upgraded the buffer in my 5.56/223 AR to a spike’s tactical 3.0 oz weight & was told by a couple people that’s pretty common/standard weight today. When did that switch happen?

AR9 should be 5.5oz. AR-10 (308) should use an H2 or H3 buffer.
