Being used to 1911, I prefer uncaptured using a stainless rod and good spring. It makes cleaning easier, and only need to replace the spring when worn out or change for different ammo types. However, I always start a build with an OEM plastic RSA to begin with.
I read some time ago that the doulble spring is supose to be better. I have both and not realy seen a difference. The double spring seems stronger and I think fits better but really not much difference in the two.
