by madams117 » Sun Apr 24, 2022 3:12 pm I've only used an RMR once, so I'm super new to it. When using sights, what's the standard as far as height? Can you use standard sights, or do you have to use suppressor sights? Or is there something in between?

by madams117 » Mon Apr 25, 2022 9:28 pm I'm starting to like ghost ring sights more lately. I'm thinking of getting a set for my Mossberg 500.

My understanding is you won't be able to use standard height sights well, if at all, with most RMRs as their bodies get in the way. I would love to see a set of suppressor height ghost ring sights ... because I do love my ghost rings but they're useless alongside RMRs .

Co-sign with what @Ramjetta said. Some companies also advertise their sights as suppressor height which would lead you to believe they are a true co-witness but often they are more like lower 1/3. Which is my experience with the Strike Industries suppressor height sights for example. I like both options depending on the RMR and the firearm.

Usually you will need 1/3rd height or full suppressor height sights for backup if you choose to go that route. Realize they are pretty much for backup or secondary use unless your RDS isn't shake awake. There are some out there that are low enough to use with standard sights. https://www.ebay.com/itm/124301063103?m ... media=COPY There are also some out there that have a rear sight built in and will work with standard or suppressor height front sights.

by madams117 » Sun Apr 24, 2022 3:25 pm I prefer absolute co-witness with optics on an AR. Would that be a good route to go with a handgun if that's what I'm used to? I know it's user's preference, but I welcome advice.

Suppressor height sights/lower 1/3rd or true co-witness sights. This is the way!!! Standard height sights will do nothing but fill a hole and a notch as they will be useless with the RMR on. Some brands/models of RMR’s do have a rear notch built in that does make them semi-compatible with standard height sights, but there are very few of them. Steel City Arsenal makes one of the best true co-witness sights for Glock imo. I’m currently running Strike industries suppressor height sights on my G26 build for a really nice lower 1/3 co-witness. https://steelcityarsenal.com/product/st ... -32-34-35/ https://www.strikeindustries.com/si-sights-sh.html
