I've got a crappy old no-name Walmart multi tool that I've never been happy with, so I don't carry it all the time. In fact, almost never, even when in the bush it's in the bottom of the pack.
Mainly, I've always balked at the price of the "good" ones. But I'm ready to bite the bullet and get something that I will always carry. Primary purpose is for survival.
Open to all suggestions, so what's your favorite?
I run a Leatherman OHT and it comes in extremely handy daily and comes out of its sheath 10x on average. All of the blades came extremely sharp and the tools work very well. The black coating is great and over time with use creates a great patina. The kydex sheath I use is called a clip&carry and you can find it on Amazon, the nylon case it comes with is useless. Main things to ask yourself is, what do you need it to do? My main focus personally was one handed operation and a quality spring pliers 🤔(with replaceable wire cutter blades, which I need to do soon after cutting some thicker guage steel wire recently). I shopped around and watched/read reviews for months before deciding. No regrets at all as it is an awesome tool. The other nice thing is that they clearly marked the location of each tool visually by making them part of the scales design.
