by lbhulk » Sat Mar 26, 2022 7:20 pm Greetings folks! So... still not ready to get into my first PF45 build as I'm still waiting on a couple major parts (including a slide/barrel)... but wanted to fact-check something based on something I thought I remembered from an older MGB video regarding PF45 trigger housings. I know that the 21SF housing is the one we need for the PF45. And that even with that part (5406), it may need some sanding in order to sit flush. Of course, the 5406 is unobtainium right now, and likely for a long time. I happen to have an 8203 G21 housing, which I probably bought a year ago in my rush to gather parts before I realized it was the wrong housing. It does have the correct 8196-2 ejector. Here's where I need your help in fact-checking: I seem to recall that the actual plastic housing of the 5406 itself, is the same housing as the Gen4 9mm? Just with a different ejector? Does that sound right? So... if I were to take one of my 30275s (9mm Gen4), take out the ejector and replace it with the 8196-2 ejector from my 8203 housing... am I good to go? (I'd save the Gen4 9mm ejector to use in one of my Gen3 housings) If this is a viable fix... it might give me a little flexibility on a path forward towards my other PF45 builds, in that I can look for availability of both 5406 housings, and 8203 housings (in order to scavenge the 8196-2 out of them). Or, if anyone has a lead on any aftermarket or individual 8196-2s, please share.

Adding a little more smoke to the battlefield... I just received a 5406 housing from OC Custom Triggers. The housing is marked 5357 (as described by MGB) with the 8196-2 ejector. As shown by Ramjetta, it also has a "shelf". I did a test fit in the frame (without rails - haven't cut the tabs yet) and it sits down fine on the rear raised polymer. That may change after final fitting of the rails. So...guess I'm gonna go with this one. For now.

Just watched the MGB video. He mentions that the 5406 housing "may" be marked 5357 - and is the same housing used in the Gen5 19x. With the ejector installed (47021) that part number is 47208. So it seems you can also use a 47208 housing with the 8196-2 ejector. You'll also have a spare 47021 ejector for your next build. 47208 from Glock's parts list: Trigger Mechanism Housing w/ ejector installed - fits 9mm G17Gen5,G19Gen5,G19X,G26Gen5,G34Gen5MOS G45,G45MOS (trigger spring included) (ejector marked 47021) What I'm curious to know is if the 5406 is a straight drop in (doesn't require the mod)? What's the difference between the 8203 and 5406?

Yes, the LWD universal housing has a ledge.

RAMjetta! High praise! Not only a very descriptive response, but with high quality detailed images! (I’m a visual guy, so images raise value of responses tenfold) Interesting about the flat top vs ledge! I would be very interested in seeing how the LWD Universal housing compares to both housings you pictured as well. Still trying to figure out phpBB… I seem to forget my password everytime I try to logon, and it takes a day for my password reset email to hit my inbox. So I meant to log on yesterday to post a follow-up of my own… but was delayed. I found the external hard drive I had my MGB videos stored on (I saved a few from YouTube, so I could view them offline). So I was able to find and re-watch the MGB video specifically about the PF45 trigger housing fix. In it, he shows the “5406” housings and explains how they have 5357 stamped on the side (screenshot attached)… and sure enough, they have the ledge! So… back to being cautiously optimistic that I might be able to salvage the 8196-2 ejector off my 8203 housing and slap it in a Gen4 9mm housing, if I can’t find a 5406 whenever I’m ready to move forward with the rest.
I ordered a 21L slide and barrel from LWD back in September. Still haven’t received it, and LWD can’t give me an ETA. So I wait… and wait... and I'll keep looking for 5406s in the meantime.

I used the housing that came with the Lone Wolf LPK for a PF45. Used the connector too. Works fine but it has a heavy trigger pull, even after all the polishing it did.

Ok well let me preface this with while I have all my parts, I haven't assembled them yet due to painting and stippling delays. I was unable to locate the file/video with the G21 housing mods but when I do I'll post it. I measeured both housings (5357 and 5406) and it would seem like the two housings are identical in length width and height (of course minus the ejectors). That is until you look at the shelf behind the ejector. As you can see in the pics below, the shelf/ledge is quite pronounced on the 5357 housing vs a flat shelf on the 5406 housing. So in answer to your question, I would assume the ledge would cause a problem for the G21/G20 slide if the 5357 housing was substituted and you'dstill be stuck looking for the correct housing. What I haven't done is looked at the LWD universal housing I bought as a backup. I'd assume the shelf is the same as the 5406. I'd keep an eye on Glockmeister.com daily for the housing to be available.

Wow. Thanks for posting this. I'm just getting parts for my first PF45 build and I had no idea we had to use a 5406 housing. I did notice that the kit comes with a gen4 slide lock spring, round vs flat. Ramjetta - impart some knowledge!
