What's the best way to get rid of these mold lines? I mean without going full Hawkeye on it? Everything I've tried seems to open a can of worms. They really pop out on the grey frame.
You might try very lightly sanding parting lines then go over the whole frame with a 3m wheel. That would blend the molding lines and tone down the texture on the rest of the frame, The only thing about this is it will give the frame a shine.
Yeah, that's the problem. Either you have the line or a different texture where you sanded, which looks worse IMO.I've tried shaving them off with an xacto. Painstaking, but it works. Right up until you slip. It's pissing me off
Sanding is the way to get rid for mold lines, but the trick is not to scuff up the frame. Use 400 grit (dry)then go to a 600 grit with water (wet sand). Here is the tricky part, what will happen is the texture will not match the rest of the pistol. A good polish will bring back the shine but will not match.P-80 has run these molds so long they are wearing out, that's why the parting lines are showing up so bad. I have some PF940c bought a few years ago and some I just bought; you can see the wear. When I worked in a tool shop this mold would be taken offline and repaired. I guess we had a tighter quality control, but I understand that they don't have time before the sale of P-80s will be dropping off.
