Starting my second P80 which I got from 80P builder. My first build had all OEM upper and lower parts (as far as I could tell). But this kit from 80P seems to have anodized striker and safety plunger in a copper color. This was probably answered on the old forum, but well...ya know. So, the question is...do I polish these or not?

Color won't matter inside the gun except to you. NOTHING should be "sticky". EVERTHING should be "smooth". Slick even. As Nosce said, but I'll add a caveat, you can polish the firing pin up to but NOT INCLUDING the actual striker. You run the chance of breaking or deforming it. Just my 2 cents. JettaMan OUT! I got lucky on that part, the Grey Ghost Precision kit came with a highly polished striker. I lucked out. And the Apex safety plunger was too. Still doesn't hurt to hit it with a dab of mothers or flitz on a piece of soft tissue just to make sure. You know i did anyway because my OCD wont let me not do it. LOL

Instant mirror finish. Sometimes I'll hit it with a little Mother's also, but it's not required.

Not only do I polish everything. I remove all stamp marks from all stamped parts.

I polish all internals regardless of finish, if you’re worried about removing the finish just give it a light buffing with the cloth dremel wheel and a bit of polishing compound. It shouldn’t remove the anodization if done in moderation.

True. But I wasn't worried about the time/effort. Just wondered if the anodized(?) color added any benefit, i.e. slickness, that I might be removing by polishing. But, now that I think about it, what could be better than a very highly polished surface? BTW, I did a mirror finish on the trigger bar. It's quite pretty!

They should be polished to ensure perfect function. Everything but the firing pin that is . 80p parts are generally excellent but why not take the time, you know?

Actually, the trigger bar was just in the picture to show the contrast of the copper parts. Those are the ones I'm curious about polishing. They're pretty smooth and clean, so I'll likely just check fit and go with them as-is.

I personally would only lightly polish the inner radius of the “birds beak” after running that inner edge on a bit of fine polishing sand paper, and the top of the shark fin. And the sear engagement bit of the cruciform. How does the trigger feel without doing any of that stuff? I do not know about your coated parts though and if such stuff is contra indicated.
