I have posted a few pictures of this build here in resources and over in stipple-tactics.
The plan here is similar to the Black Widow build it did. I high polished the slide to a mirror finish, then added my tribal stencils. This is an Advantage Arms 22 conversion slide made of aluminum. Being a soft metal, I decided to sand blast it instead of etching.
The only other aluminum I have etched has been the medallions I did. They looked more like a frosted look instead of a burn or cut into the metal. For this reason, I went with a sandblast for the frosted look but this time I plan on painting the Trible stencils so when I remove the masking they will pop on the high polished slide. One reason I get a frosted look on aluminum etching could be from having too much salt in my mixture of white vinegar, salt and water. Something to text more before I start etching on my ARs.
SO, here is where I'm at on the slide.

you might ask why I stop the tribal stencil short on the top back of the slide, well this build is a makeover.
I built this one two years ago and had a red dot on it. It is my shoot 'um up in the back yard pistol for fun and teaching the grandkids how to shoot. I plan on putting the red dot back on it.
The frame still needs some sanding and edges being straighten out be here is where I am at.

This frame had a lot of mods done two years ago and I added to them for a totally tricked out frame we can talk about in Hawks corner on Fireside Chat.
This being a fun gun I see no need for a rail, so I filled it in to make room for some more Tribal stencils.
I did the stippling prep work two years ago and never did like how big the grip area was, so I instead of filling it in I would just break it up by adding some JB Weld at the mag release area. You can see i reformed the trigger guard, we'll talk more on trigger mods on the next Hawks Corner 3/21/23.
I molded in the magwell and plan on giving it a high mirror polished finish to match the slide.
This brings us to the Builders Tribe logo. I still need to fix some pits in the JB Weld, but you can get the idea here.
In my opinion, doing logo stuff in your grip, this is the best and easiest way to do it.
If anyone is interested in how to do this logo trick, I can go further into how to stuff. It's not hard and is easier to carve than trying to carve polymer and you don't have to worry about burning threw the grips on P80s that are thin.
I am still up in the air on what color paint to use, so if anyone has an idea of color combos I'm up for ideas.
Definitely diggin it!
Ok got the paint finished on my Tribal Scout.
My plan for the stippling on this one is just a random sandpaper stippling.
There is so much going on with the looks of this one, a fancy stipple job would just be lost in all the shine that is going on. Plus, I have to use a stipple that is small enough to fit around the Builders Tribe logo.
Here is another view to show off some of the custom stuff done to this P80 frame.
I got a chance to do some painting this weekend.
Hight polished slide with a dull brass highlight on sandblasted aluminum.
It is hard to get a good picture because of the glare from the high polish surface.
Still working on the frame but is black chrome. I know I have built a lot of black chrome builds latly but I just love the color with polished slides. I think the color combo just makes things pop.
Love seeing the processes that go into making your one of a kind builds brother.
Love it
