The black one I have owned since 1978. Chrome plated one was my dads, I got when he died a few years ago. Both still shoot just fine. My Double nine is what I carried when I went trout fishing in creeks for snakes and other scary critter. I don't know much about the chrome plated pistol but mine has a story behind it.

When I first moved here I didn't have any fire arms, my father-in-law gave me his old Winchester 22LR
(more on that rife later) but my stepfather (ILL. State Trooper) thought I needed a pistol to go with it and gave me the black double nine. He said he got this from a murder case he solved. Some guy shot another guy through the back window of a car. The Troopers didn't have a case until my stepfather talked the guy into giving up the pistol. He bought it at a civilian sale that the state had. Yes back in the day you could buy confiscated fire arms for fund rising for the state. Is the story true, I don't know but its one of my first and still fun to shot.
I never have tracked down the serial numbers but I know there over 50 years old.
Heritage arms makes a single action but these Double 9s are double action and hold 9 rounds.
They have been in my collection ever sense.
