I can't help but send this teaser out, and giving away WAY more information than WE4PONXYZ! As soon as I saw this CL frame and 17L slide together, the lightbulb went off. The build is down the road a bit because I have to get good at stippling and I haven't even started trying yet

The best way to achieve this would be with a Rit DyeMore Synthetic bath on a FDE polymer80. Chocolate brown and a Graphite Black would be great color’s to go with. Since the dye doesn’t penetrate terribly far, when you carve into it it will reveal the lighter color underneath. Rit dye more will also penetrate slightly when painted on with a brush a few times and hit with a blow dryer between coats for texturing. I’ve never done this wood texture application but my theory is sound. You can seal it in with a clear coat or Cerakote wipe to increase its longevity. Check like Cosplay or monster creation etc. for reference on how to carve wood textures with a dremel.
