You could do the whole thing with the bit, but I find there's much less mess cutting out the big pieces first.Yeah I just have the bigger fret cutters which won’t fit all the tabs on a sc frame for example soo I just use the carving bit for all of them so I’m not switching tools and it helps to get the pace right for when I do the channel. Plus side too is then my left over polymer is already nice and ground up and ready for the ever growing zip-loc seriously though I use it to add material to stipple areas and for potential fixes or even a re-stipple down the road. Then when I do the channel now I just keep the frame in the jig for the first 75% so if for some reason my bit does manage to skip/jump it doesn’t have many places to go.

Was literally going to make a post asking why! Probably saw it an mgb video or on the old tools list. I use these just as much as use the sanding barrels. You slick up a frame before painting for a smooth finish or for a slick polish job. with the course wheels you can do a brushed aluminum look or remove the parting lines on frames. I have use them to remove paint for a new paint job.TIP: watch your speed using these too fast you build-up heat all so going to fast will through bristles all over you, it's like getting fiber glass in your tee-shirt.

I cut out almost my whole channel and tabs now with the dremel carving bit zip, zip, zip done…
and I’m left with about 2-3% left to go. Switch to sandpaper wrapped around a dowel, sharpie or a half round file which works great for getting the side walls of the channel in a straight line to the floor especially on an Sc. 800, 1k-2k wet sand and then a miner oil, pledge (the renew moisturize one works wonders to bring back the polymer shine after soaked in I’ll wipe off the excess and then run over it all lightly with a dremel cloth/felt polishing tip.

I never did like those plain rubber wheels, they cut to slow.I don't like using water unless I am hand sanding because of the mud build-up.The best investment I have made has been in a micro sander, it cuts my sanding time in half.BUT!! it's not what feels right for me, it is what feels right for you.

https://www.gesswein.com/search/?search ... era+wheelsThese things are great on steel and polymer. (Cera wheels) They have different grits of ceramicimbedded in rubber wheels. They can cut and polish depending on grits, I use these a lot, they are costly but if you don't try and remove a lot at one time, they last a long time. I use 80, 220, and 320 most of the time but I do have some finer grits I use for polishing.
