I researched all over, looking for a homemade paint oven. When I added up the cost of materials, this was the cheapest way I came up with. A small electric smoker. At the time I bought cost was $115 with free delivery'

Works great for what I am doing.

So, I can ask a stupid question, to which I'm pretty sure I know the answer...Why don't you just use the oven in your kitchen? Yep you know the answer, you don't want to possibly introduce paint toxins into the food you may cook later. You mean you have a smoker that will never smoke meat again??? Lol I've got a smoker that's never smoked meat. I bought it brand new.

JEFFRO wrote: ↑Sun Mar 27, 2022 8:29 pm@Ramjetta I see also that you screwed into the top of your smoker to get some extra hang space. Assume that is ok to do? Do you need to use that thermal lining tape over the new holes? Thx. The entire inside of the oven is lined with insulation and foil tape. Then there are washers on the posts inside and out so I doubt any heat escapes that way and surely not enough to make a difference in curing.

Hawkeye wrote: ↑Thu Mar 10, 2022 6:01 pmRAMjetta why did you line the inside of the smoker? I can get over 450 as is. I have a gas smoker (for butts and ribs) that I put a seal around the door, it can reach over 500. Just thought I might need to line my too. It's not to raise the heat, but to keep the heat more in than out. As you see it's in a confined area. I don't need that entire area to radiate 300⁰+. This was a design I received from Gr8maker (a friggin engineer I believe) and it works great. I've only had it up to 300⁰ so far. I may test it's limits one day but for now that's fine.

Modified Masterbuilt electric smoker. Got it on sale at Walmart.com for $94 but it's regular price is $127. https://www.walmart.com/ip/410937596 I haven't added up what it costed to modify. The insulation and some other items were donated to the cause so there's that. It works great though.

Where did you get it? Thinking about getting one.
