On these two new builds I have started there is going to be some etching that takes a little more thought in them than just doing serial numbers so I thought I would layout the steps I use.

I haven't talked about this build yet but here it is. The name of this theme is "Night's Watch" as you can see LOL.
I don't think I will use the bird above the name, I think it is to mush busy stuff to look at.

This is the crest for the Night's Watch. The original crest has the Night's Watch across the crest, but the lettering is so small I can't weed the stencil, or it is so small it will not cut the stencil, so I put the name on the side.

Yep the good old serial numbers. This has become a basic thing for me. I like to use transfer paper to help line up number. I weed out the numbers to help see how they line up, sometimes it helps and sometimes it just gets in the way so make sure you have extra numbers just in case you have to line them up again. Another thing I do is save my numbers that I weed out. After I do my etching and cleaning, I will put the letters back over the etching before painting. This lets you paint over them and when removed it gives them a sharp edge and they are easy to read.
This is something new I am trying, my own coins.

f you can't tell yet I have Game-of-Thron's theme going on both builds.
If this works out, I have some really out-there plans for more coins.
I thought I might make my own coins to go with each build just for that one more thing that makes them a one-of-a-kind build. I know I am a geek-nurd I am told that a lot. I should get to etching next week and will keep this post updated then.
OK did the etching today and here is how it turned out.

Night's Watch turned out nice

Hawkeye 9mm turned out fine

The shield not so good. You can see that the border has some bleed over or I should say bleed under the stencil that makes one side narrower than the other. I believe I can fix this when I paint.
The plain is to paint all these etching a dark flat black with frame and slide being another color.
Here is some fun stuff my Madalones

They turn out good, but this is what I have learned.
1) these are aluminum thin blanks, being only 1/16 thick they just don't feel like a Madalon, so what I did was glue two together.

This feels a lot better but still when I do this again, I will use some thicker blacks made of brass, copper or stainless steel.

I did some more etching for the Night's Watch build. I thought it would be cool to have a crow in one of the window cuts in the slide.
I don't know but I think I over think a lot of my builds trying to get that over-the-top one-of-a-kind build.
