Lol tell me how you really feel. No offense taken. (Long reply alert but please read). I've dealt with them for years (I have the 5D Tactical Jig and have many AR lowers and parts) but I'm not gonna attempt to defend your points on their behalf. That's not my place. I will add that their shipping costs suck which is why I wait for free shipping codes lol. 😆 I will say that they were not the first to copy the split rear rails that we know was first created by Rook. However they are the best duplications I've seen. And their production has been faster than Rook has been in the past. I can only assume that's because they cut their own and are owned by a large conglomerate (80% Arms and Modulus are also owned by the parent company) and Rook (Pete) is a one man or small family business who outsources (less resources). I'm also not going to debate about different aluminum types. That's not in my wheelhouse. As for the functionality of the rails, I have used both Rook and 5D Rails and the bottom line is they both work. They slide in snuggly and the holes line up without needing modification. The slides glide great with or without lube on both (I've tested that also). Maybe I should do a comparison video. Honestly the connector cutout is nice but I agree, I don't think it was necessary funtionality wise. However, the other elephant in the room is the price and finish. The 5D price point is much better and in my opinion the finish is more refined. Again, I can only assume their price point can be cheaper because they do own the cnc machines (assuming that's true) in Texas (that's where the return address is, I can post it if you like) that do the cutting of the rails. In summary, the rails work great and if you would like to see a comparison video I will produce one. No problem. Can I say they work better than Rook or vice versa? No I wouldn't say that. I would say they both work. So it comes down to budget and/or brand loyalty. I'm not loyal to either company. I'm loyal to my bottom line when building. As Kendrick Lamar said, "I choose me". If I can save a few bucks on a reliable part so I can maybe spend more on another part (Optics, trigger shoes or OEM internals, etc) then that's what I'm gonna do. A $20 - $25 savings is nothing to sneeze at (but as I said, 5D Tactical shipping costs suck which is why I wait til shipping is free). I hope I've helped and I apologize for the lengthy response. Happy building.
