So a while back I picked up a P80 AR-10 lower. Bottom line is that I am super apprehensive to even look at AR builds. Jigs alone are $$$ Ive been eyeballing 5D lately. Fear is I buy a jig and all the lowers dry up. I have not too many qualms about buying a registered pieceI just like building.. and go boating a lot It's like big kid LEGOs to and extent for me. Blasting on a budget here lately as I look toward Active Duty retirement and then on to job hunting. What does a budget AR build run?

Does the 350 Ledgen use the same magazines as the AR-15? Some where I heard they are the same but need to be modified.

Nothing special on the lower for 350 Legend. The ammo is getting fairly easy to find here by me the last few months, I just picked up a case of 200 in 145 grain FMJ yesterday.

How hard is it to get 350 Ledgen ammo? AND: do I need anything special to turn an AR-15 lower into a 350 Ledgen besides the upper?

I've built 2 300 BLKouts, 1 5.56, 1 350 legend, 1 AR10 in 308, 1 AR9 and an AR45. Working on a 458 SOCOM now. Buying a good jig has been one of my better moves. 2 formats for an AR 10 build. DMPS and Armalite. The uppers and lowers have to be the same platform! Depending on what you want you can build an AR 10 for under 1,000 but I doubt you'll be happy with it. The beauty of building you own is you can do it one piece at a time. Rick

I just finished an AR308. Without optic. Probably $750 ish. I have the 5 D jig and love it. It’s almost idiot proof. I bought a upper kit from Delta team tactical. Don’t know how it will shoot. Plan to find out in the morning. Everything went together with no wobble or gaps on the 5d lower.

I built six 80% lowers, then sold the jig. so far, I built two ar-9 and one AR-5.56 along with one AR-22lr. I plan on building a 350 Ledgen for some deer hunting but ammo is hard to get, and I don't reload 350 Ledgen yet. I look for sales at PSA for building kits. They seem to have the best prices for what I build. I'm hell on a pie plate at 100 yards. One I would love to build is AR-10, maybe one day if I live long enough. I had a M1A back in the 80s and what a beast of a firearm. Wish I hadn't sold it along with a M1 Grand another great rifle. I all ways like to keep with military rounds because the brass was easy to find and cheap, so back in the day I shot a lot of 308, 30-06 and 45acp. Now a days I love my little 22s.
I should have mentioned I bought my 80% lowers from 5-d Tactical. Some were blemished, so saved some bucks.
All my build kits came from Palmetto State Armory. I've bought some other firearms from them too. They have some good deals

It honestly all depends on parts brands and where you get them from. My first SBR is definitely just north of 1k. When I started getting the parts for it a few years ago, I was able to get quite a few parts off ebay for cheap (can't do that now though). Since getting it all finished up and legal about a year or two ago, I've made a few upgrades to it, so the overall cost went up a little. I'm on my second SBR now and it's right around 1,500 or so and I'm still not completely done getting parts for it. I built it specifically around the YHM Resonator R2, so I went a different route with a few parts. Most budget builds I've seen have come in just at or under 1k.
