I have bought parts but never a slide. after reading the reviews I will in the future.Just think about the tack driver you could build with parts that have a tight fit that has to be hand fitted with Rook rails. Tight tolerances are the things that make a competition build great, the only variables are the shooter and ammo.
@Ancient OrderAnd here was a second comment I made in the same thread that you may find of interest too.======================One other thing about my slide. The female threaded holes to hold an RMR optic or the cover plate down are not threaded all the way through the slide. So, you don't have to worry about the attachment screw encroaching into the extractor depressor plunger cavity/port. But the downside is that it is a very shallow female hole with just a few threads. I don't have an optic yet, so I don't know if this is an issue, but it is very shallow in depth.
@Ancient OrderI just posted an answer about this in another forum. It was a question in general about lowers, barrels and other parts sold by ArmOrAlly. Here is a cut and paste of my post below. I would not hesitate to buy from them again, but I would do so knowing that their slides have tight tolerances. At least the one I got. Here ya go:================================They had some great prices about a year ago. Some of the lowest around with frames going around $90-$100 dollars. They were typically sold out of their custom painted frames and many of the custom colored slides.Slide Hood:I bought an ArmOrAlly DLC black slide and it ran out of the box quite well on a G17 frame. I will tell you right now that the tolerances are quite tight. There are some under the hood rub marks up front on the slide from the barrel, but that may have been because I didn't quite have my rear rail sitting low enough in the frame. I massaged the arch of the rear rail and that brought the slide down a smidgen so that it sat parallel to the frame and flush with the raised tab section on the very back of the P80 frame. It was not off much, but raised up a tad. All of the rub marks I had were from hand racking. The gun has about 50-70 rounds through it with four different brands of ammo and it hasn't missed a beat and never miss-fired.It has a Bearcreek threaded stainless barrel with an OEM RSA. The lower parts are OEM excluding the pins and P80 stock rails sized to fit flush. The upper is an ArmOrAlly plain Jane, black DLC coated slide with no ports, but has an RMR cut. I think it was around $150 dollars last year some time. The RMR plate was $20-30 from what I recall. The screws they sent for the RMR plate were too long for the plate so it wouldn't tighten the plate down completely. I had to put washers on them to hold the plate down. I assume the extra length on the screws is for an optic which will probably be thicker (I don't have one yet). I did not contact them about the screws, but I may ask for an extra set if I order some more parts from them.Tight tolerances:Snap caps were jamming going into gun, but that is because they are tad fatter than live rounds. Not a single live round has jammed or failed ejection. I put calipers to the snap caps and they are a tad thicker when compared to all brands of live ammo I have here. Not by much, but all the snap caps were thicker in the cartridge area and the flared lip on the rear where the primer is inserted into the cartridge. It was enough to jam going into the slide/barrel where the extractor grabs the lip of the cartridge. All extractors I tried resulted in jamming. Four types were tried.Hope this is helpful. Cheers.
