This has probably been answered elsewhere, but it just occurred to me how much of a PITA I had trying to change out a slide lock recently.
It's the one that has the same spring as the safety plunger, not the lever kind.
How in the HECK are you supposed to manipulate that thing? It's hard enough to get the slide lock in, but getting it out is damn near impossible.
As I recall, I resorted to using my Xacto pointy blade to push down on the spring while wiggling and pushing out the slide lock. Problem is, on some frames, the clearance between the frame and the slide lock is so narrow, that you can't even fit a thin Xacto blade in there.
Suggestions, tips welcome
yeah, what Ram said but sometimes the spring will hang so I use a small jeweler standard screwdriver to push the spring down just enough to get the lock to come out. I then hold my hand over the spring brfore removing the lock too catch the spring when it tries to excape.
Yea those are a pain. I use a really thin gasket pick to push the spring down enough for it to fall out the side
You should be able to remove it without a tool. Press the slide lock down on one side with your finger. Pushed the slide lock to the side and out of the receiver while keeping your thumb over the Spring. I've included the 2 pics from the glock manual.
